| Potter stuntman injured on Deathly Hallows set Harry Potter stuntman suffers horror injury in film set explosion. ![]() The Press Association is reporting this evening that a stunt double for Daniel Radcliffe was injured while on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: The 25 year old was performing an aerial sequence when he fell to the ground following an explosion which was part of the stunt, the Daily Mirror reported. He said: "Paramedics were called to Leavesden Studios after a man in his 20s sustained a significant back injury. He was stabilised at the scene and taken to Watford General Hospital." The Mirror has a bit more information, adding that the stuntman said he could not feel his legs after falling. A rep from Leavesden Studios, where the Potter films are shot, also confirms the accident. Our thoughts are with the stuntman and his family and we hope he makes a full recovery. | Tomb Raider May Be Going Hollywood.....Again! Angelina Jolie hasn't graced the silver screen as Lara Croft since 2003 (she was too busy being awesome in Wanted, apparently), so you all know what that means. Yes, it's time for a reboot. According to Empire, a new Tomb Raider film is in the works that will "reimagine" Lara's "character, origins, love interest and main villain." She's already received a makeover in the gaming realm thanks to Crystal Dynamics, but it sounds like Hollywood is going for something a little more drastic. There's apparently currently no writer, director or cast attached to the project, so you can treat this news as very, very early. But if they do make another Tomb Raider movie, you can probably bet that Angelina Jolie won't be in it. Source: 1up |
| Guitar Hero: Metallica First Look into the Game If you want a good example of the incredible growth the Guitar Hero series has undergone since its 2005 debut, last year's Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a great place to start. It's hard to tell who exactly the headliner was in that show: the phenomenally successful band that's been around for nearly 40 years or the phenomenally successful video game franchise that's existed for a 10th of that time. No matter the answer, the formula must have worked, because Activision will soon be releasing a similar spin-off in the form of Guitar Hero: Metallica. Besides the obvious switch from bluesy hard rock to heavy metal, Guitar Hero: Metallica will differ from its predecessor by supporting the full suite of instruments bundled with Guitar Hero: World Tour while also cranking up the level of fan service packed into the game. Just yesterday, some members of the Neversoft development team dropped by the GameSpot office to give us a look at what to expect out of the final release. ![]() Metallica band members are rendered in Guitar Hero's signature caricatures. The challenge that exists in creating a music game dedicated to such a massive artist is the sense of progression in the game's Career mode. After all, when you're already on top of the world, there's not a lot of vertical growth left to achieve. Neversoft's solution to this will be to replace the documentary-style approach of the Aerosmith game--which took you on a chronological journey of the band's greatest hits--with a fleshed-out storyline that puts you in the shoes of a garage band looking to achieve their dream of opening for Metallica. Animated interludes that play out between sets show a young collection of Metallica fans doing their best to win over the famous rockers, and the visual style is definitely in the rough and grungy aesthetic Guitar Hero fans are familiar with. The progression of the game's Career mode will alternate between performances by Metallica--complete with eerily accurate character models for all four members--and performances by the upstart band featuring characters of your own creation. Metallica will be playing some of their hits, such as "Enter Sandman," "Master of Puppets," "No Leaf Clover," "The Unforgiven," and "Nothing Else Matters," alongside some lesser-known numbers, while your group will be covering the work of bands that are associated with Metallica in some way. Whether it's a group that played with Metallica, inspired them, or used them as a source of their own inspiration, there will be a wide variety of other bands' music available to you. A few examples are Bob Seger's "Turn the Page," Social Distortion's "Mommy's Little Monster," Mastadon's "Blood and Thunder," Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Tuesdays Gone," and Judas Priest's "Hell Bent for Leather"--plus an unnamed Queen song. Similarly, the venues you'll be playing in will be those taken from key moments in Metallica's career and will include the likes of the Los Angeles Forum, Hammersmith Apollo, and Tushino Airfield in Moscow. | Farewell Circuit City Court approves bankrupt electronics retailer's motion to liquidate and close its remaining 567 stores. Bankrupt electronics retailer Circuit City Inc. said Friday it will close its remaining 567 U.S. stores and sell all its merchandise. The company said it has 34,000 employees. "We are extremely disappointed by this outcome," James Marcum, acting CEO for Circuit City, said in a statement. "We were unable to reach an agreement with our creditors and lenders to structure a going-concern transaction in the limited timeframe available, and so this is the only possible path for our company." In a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, which a judge approved late Friday, Circuit City - the No. 2 electronics retailer after Best Buy (BBY, Fortune 500) - said it had reached an agreement with four companies to start the liquidation process. The company said the sale would begin Saturday and run until March 31, pending court approval. The retailer's Web site and call center will cease to operate after Jan. 18. Circuit City said employees will receive 60 days' notice of the termination. Employees who are laid off earlier will get pay and benefits for the 60-day period beginning Friday, the retailer said. Those who remain with the company to assist with the liquidation, will receive pay and benefits. ![]() Found: News Soruce Read more... |
